Panel on a computer
The panel is a web page in the browser (Chrome or Edge). It opens at your venue's address, with nothing to install and no account for the team.
- Open the addressOn the station, Settings has “Web panel address” with a QR code. The passbell.app/account page shows the same address. The short link looks like
passbell.app/go/<name>. - Pair onceThe panel asks for the pairing code the station shows. Type it once; the computer remembers.
- Keep it openBookmark the address. Voice (the microphone) works only at this address, because it has a certificate and shows a normal padlock.
If the page does not open
Some routers (Fritz!Box by default, pfSense, OpenWrt) block an internet name that answers with a local network address. This is called DNS rebind protection. The fix is one exception for go.passbell.app.
Example, Fritz!Box (menu names differ a little between versions):
- Open fritz.box and sign in with the router password.
- Go to Home Network, then Network, then Network Settings.
- Under DNS Rebind Protection, in “Host name exceptions”, type
go.passbell.appand press Apply. - Open your venue's address on the computer again.
On another router, search the DNS settings for “DNS rebind”, or ask your provider.
Until that is fixed, or when the shop has no internet
On the same Wi-Fi as the station, open http://passbell.local:8787/panel. It also works without internet and asks for the pairing code once. There is no padlock and voice (the microphone) does not work there; everything else does.
The shop's calls never go through the internet. The named address needs it only to find the name and to renew the certificate.
